What is “text-hip”? In Korea, reading is cool — and adult reading rates just hit a record low
A post from NHK's international news desk sent me down a rabbit hole into Korea's “text-hip” culture. A reading boom among the young on one side, a record-low adult reading rate on the other. Between those two contradictory numbers I found something many readers share today: the wish to read alone, with just a little of someone else's presence nearby.
